I love this post Mike - you nailed it! A man of his age lifting outdoors like that and showing great physique is inspiring.
In all gyms I have belonged to, the strongest guys are always encouraging others. The real lifters are not insulting people for the weights they are using or their gym attire. Can you imagine Ed Coan being worried about what clothes someone else is wearing?
As a 62 year old getting into shape I am in awe! I understand the struggle of it all once in your 60's most of the "goobers" (my fav term of yours) have no idea how hard it is.
By time I was 70 I'd had shoulder injuries, rotator cuff tears, and bicep injuries. I think this is common for anyone who's led an active life, or worked outside doing manual labor. Combine this with the decline in strength that comes with age -- strength falls off a cliff at 75 -- and RFKjr is a phenomenal example of health and strength. Good for him.
Everyone is a critic and an expert on social media. RFK is impressive both physically and intellectually --even if you agree with his positions or not. When did we become a society that if we dislike or disagree with someone we cannot acknowledge simple truths, and in this case, the reality that he practices what he preaches.
I have an affinity for your unbiased understanding and finite truths. I have never read anything from you and thought, well, he is half right. I haven’t always agreed with you, but you show your work so the math adds up. You offer more than opinion. You offer critical thinking with rational conclusions.
I don’t want to be the “it’s adderall’s fault” reply guy every time… but it’s adderall’s fault. Even on non adderalled people. Culture of mediocre conformity enforced by big pharma, public school, and parents who want kids to fit in and do what teach says rather than stand out and change the system.
You mentioned in a tweet that men past a certain age need to fulfill a goal or projects to find a sense of purpose in their life. I am sure at 70 I would want this to be a metric I hit. Thanks for the definition of a bugman.
I'm 46. I work out daily (my diet is my downfall). I would love to look like RFK now, let alone at his age. Social Media has taught us to try and dunk on others just for clicks and dopamine.

Exercising in jeans... try cutting firewood or staking hay bales in gym shorts

Well said.

When seeing RFK Jr all jacked doing bench presses my 1st thought was “good for him, I really hope I can achieve something like that”
To see all the haters reminded me of the miserable ppl out there and there a lot of them
