The reason doctors wear white coats is because they were universally reviled as such outright charlatans and killers, so a hundred years or so ago they decided to “steal” the far more favorable PR image of lab-coated scientists….
It only took about a hundred years for that illusion to fade, now we’re right back where we started…
The feeling is akin to riding in the backseat of a fast-moving vehicle and suddenly realizing the driver is dead drunk. And you wonder how you could possibly have gotten yourself into this situation, or how you can possibly get out. An interesting dilemma...
FWIW, I take some comfort in recalling Kipling's poem, "If--". Opening lines:
"If you can keep your head when all about you / Are losing theirs and blaming it on you..."
As Cerno says, despair is of the devil. We do what we can, it's enough, or it's not enough, but it's all we can do. Beyond that, we're in God's hands.
Interesting subject regarding the Rwandan genocide. At what point do non-leftists recognize the point of no return and transition to a more proactive rather than defensive posture? I’m not sure what that looks like but I’ll be damned if I’m going to allow my family to be chopped up by machetes....
"There was never a golden age." I think about this often, and consider: 1. What is the best type of political governance? 2. What came first, Government intervention or prosperity? For example, what if we never made an Interstate Highway System? Is all of Neoliberalism just a Ponzi Scheme utilizing Globalism? Was American Ingenuity better off during the Gilded Age or the Roaring 20s? (certainly not in mob-ridden Chicago) Why can't other countries replicate our economic success? Is it all based on the Constitution and property rights?
My dream outcome from 2024 would be the start of an American movement to abolish the presidency. You can't beat them at this game but you could flip over the table
I liked this one- I like when Cerno is free flowing like he is here on many different topics

Stay vigilant indeed. Get healthy, get strong, and get right with God. Never know what may be around the corner.
